Dr R Ramkumar

Professor Dr R Ramkumar is a professor at the Tata Institute of Science and Technology. He holds an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics (TNAU) and Ph.D. in Economics (Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata). He is NABARD Chair Professor, School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, from June 2016 and non-ministerial Member, State Planning Board, Government of Kerala, from September 2016. His research interests are agrarian studies, agricultural economics, development economics, fiscal policy in India and national identity schemes. He studies the Aadhar project in India, demonitisation and the Indian economy, communalism and social movement, economic reforms and changes in rural livelihoods, agricultural credit in India, and agrarian change in rural India and rural Maharashtra.
