Actor, Director
Madhupal is an actor, director and screenwriter who works in Malayalam cinema. He made his acting debut through Kashmeeram in 1994 and directorial debut through Thalappavu in 2008. He also writes short stories which have been translated into English, Hindi and Tamil and have been published in various magazines like Mathrubhoomi, Madhyamam and Bhashaposhini magazines. His assosiation with film dates back to his childhood when his father was the owner of a theatre. He started his career as an assistant director to reputed directors like Bharath Gopi and Rajiv Anchal. As an actor he has done mostly negative roles. He won the Critic’s Award for the second best actor for his role of Hari in the series on MT Kathakal, called Kazhcha, telecasted on Amritha TV. He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Debut Director for the movie Thalappavu and also in 2018, he won the Kerala State Television Award for Best Director for Kalingandaki.
