NS Madhavan

N S Madhavan is a leading writer in Malayalam who writes short stories, novels, football coloumns and travel articles. His works in short fiction include Corpses of Chulaimed, Higuita, Blue Pencil, Stories about Names and The Cry. He has won the Odakkuzhal Award(1994) and the Sahithya Akademi Award(2013). He has won the Katha Prize series(Delhi) for Malayalam four times. His novel, Lanthan Batheriyile Luthiniyakal came out in 2003. Its English translation, Litanies of Dutch Battery, won the Crossword Award for Best Indian Fiction in translation. One of his books, When Big Trees Fall was made into a film in Hindi called Kaya Taran by Sasi Kumar in 2004.
