P Valsala

P Valsala is a short story writer, novelist and activist from Kerala. She is a recipient of the Kerala Sahithya Akademi Award for her novel Nizhalurungunna Vazhikal (The Paths were shadows sleep).She is former chairperson of the Kerala Sahithya Akademi and was assosiated with PuKaSa. Her short stories include Pempi, Pazhaya Puthiya Nagaram, Anupamayude Kavalkaran, Aanavettakkaran, Unikkoran Chathopathiya, Annamaria Neridan, Karuttha Mazha Peyyunna Thazhvara, Mythiliyuda Makal, Ashokanum Ayalum, Chandalabhikshukiyum Marikkunna Pownamiyum, Suvarna Kadhakal and Gate Thurannittirikkunnu. Her novels include Vilaapam (The Cry), Aadhijalam (The Primeval Water), and Melppalam (The Flyover). She has won the Kumkumam award for Nellu, Muttathu Varkey award for her contribution to Malayalam literature, and C. V.Kunhiraman Memorial Sahithya award.
