Rajan Gurukkal

Indian social scientist, historian and writer
Rajan Gurukkal is an Indian social scientist, historian, writer and professor. He writes on the socio-economic, cultutal history of Kerala, structural anthropology, historical sociology, and human ecology of the Southwestern Ghats. He began his career as a junior lecturer at Union Christian College, Aluva in 1972. He has received many awards, including, Oravakkal Mathen Memorial Best Academician Award(1986), Teacher Fellowship. Indian Council of Historical Research(1977) and National Teacher Fellowship, University Grants Commission(1980). He has written six books in Malayalam and in English. He has also written in various newspapers and magazines on current issues.
