Principal Scientist & Research Coordinator at Kerala Forest Research Institute. Graduated from Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam and completed post-graduation from Department of Zoology, University of Calicut. Awarded doctoral degree for the thesis on Spatial Dynamics of Teak Defoliator Outbreaks: Patterns and Causes by Cochin University of Science and Technology. Received specialized training on Pesticide Application Methods from International Pesticide Application Research Centre, UK and on Baculovirus research from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. Holds the Indian patent No.218518 for the process of manufacture of Bio-pesticide based on Baculovirus. Conducting research for over 21 years on Forest Entomology, landscape fragmentation, Population dynamics of forest insects, Political ecology, Biological control and Management of Invasive Alien Species. Conducted the first survey and reporting of Invasive Alien Plants in Kerala. Initiated Tree Helpline and established Nodal Centre for research and management of Invasive Alien Species at KFRI. Served as Coordinator of Asia-Pacific Forest Invasive Species Network- a cooperative alliance of 33 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Organized state wide campaign for the eradication of the Giant African Snail. Mapped and prepared the first comprehensive database of granite quarries in Kerala. Published 58 Research Papers, 34 Research Reports, 4 Books and several popular articles. Organized 17 training programmes/workshops in India, China, Bhutan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Philippines, Nepal, USA, Thailand and Myanmar on various aspects of Alien Invasive Species.Sajeev speaks and writes on matters related to earth.
