V K Prasad

V K Prasad has been actively involved in the financial, social, cultural and academic spheres for the last several years. He is a postgraduate in English literature and law. Having started his public life as an activist and later leader of students’ Federation of India, he subsequently entered banking service and went on to become a leader of the Bank Officers’ trade union movement, which he led for more than two decades. He played a lead role in transforming the bank officers of the country into an integral part of the working class. He also opposed the neo-liberal policies in the banking sector, consequent to which he was subjected to victimisation by the management. Ever since leaving the Bank, he has been campaigning against the neo liberal policies which are seeking to establish hegemony over Indian polity, society, economy, market and culture. He carries forward his campaign by reading, writing speaking and teaching. He was the founder director of EMS study And Research centre, a wing of C P I (M) Ernakulam District Committee. He was also the Deputy General Manager of Deshabhimani Daily for some time. He is now a lawyer at Ernakulam.
