Varghese Punnoose

Varghese Punnoose is Professor and Head of Department of Psychiatry, Government TD Medical College Alappuzha, Kerala, India. He has worked in various teaching positions in different Govt Medical College in Kerala since 1997. His areas of interest include child and adolescent mental health, working with other medical specialties on psychological aspects of medical disorders, and he pioneered the first Transgender Clinic in Govt Medical College, Kottayam in 2016, first of its kind in government sector in India. He was awarded Professor J S Sathyadas award for excellence in medical teaching in 2011, Fellowship for young psychiatrist by World Psychiatric Association in its World Congress at Cairo in 2005, and the Catholicate award for university college teachers in 2017.
