Anil Bhatti
Anil Bhatti, the eminent scholar and theoretician who joined the Centre of German Studies, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi in 1971 was appointed Professor at the Centre in 1983. He retired as Professor in August 2009 and is now Professor Emeritus of the University. He has repeatedly been the Chairperson of the Centre and has served a term as Dean of the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies and another term as Dean, School of Arts and Aesthetics, JNU. He has been member from time to time of National level committees and panels related to the development of Foreign Language Studies in India and member of selection committees for the appointment of faculty to Universities in India. He is an expert in Literary and Cultural Theories, Modern German Literature, Comparative Literature and Comparative Culture Studies between Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and India/Asia. He is also well versed in Orientalism and Postcolonial Studies. His contributions to German language have gained several recognition’s. He has authored a number of books in English and German.
